Hockham Primary School at Fakenham Races

Great Hockham Primary School at Fakenham Races

We were delighted to welcome Great Hockham Primary School to Fakenham Races as part of Racing to School program back on 14th October.

Pupils had a day filled with tours, showcases and learning interesting facts about racing and horses, lead by Robert Bellamy and John Pritchard.

We are very grateful to have received a fantastic email from Alexander Bowles, the Head of the Great Hockham Primary School and we decided we’d share it with you:

Dear Ollie,

I would like you to pass on my comments to the highest levels within your organisation.

Today I took children from my school, Great Hockham Primary School and Nursery to Fakenham races under the umbrella of a ‘Racing to schools’ maths day.

From the very outset, we were treated with absolute professionalism and a high level of hospitality and generosity. Robert Bellamy and John Pritchard were superb hosts, their kindness and good humour enabled my children to thoroughly enjoy their day. Their deep knowledge and clear passion for racing was apparent throughout the day and was passed onto the children. No question was beyond them and they were happy to answer everything the children asked them.

The entire day was a real eye  opener for the children ( and for myself, a football, baseball and sailing man with only a slight understanding of horses!) Everyone we encountered was polite and welcoming. Because of our positive experience today, we have a highly positive attitude to the exciting sport of racing. The children loved watching the races and seeing the horses and jockeys close up.

The activities were great and the ‘behind the scenes element made the day an unforgettable experience!

I have already begun to recommend your organisation to my friends within education. I have been leading school trips since 1996. I have led trips to a wide variety of exciting destinations around the globe. Today was , without doubt, one of the very best.

Please make sure that you pass this onto Robert and John.

With sincere thanks

Alex
